Good Evening. I was able to enable a skill to ask “Alexa ask Greeter who is my hero?” It responds “My Pa”. This was made possible by a video and instruction from Big Nerd Ranch. Big props to them and their course work. The video is linked below. That was my first experience with AWS Lambda. The course covers step by step how to enable the Hello Greeter Skill. I changed out the text to say “My Pa” instead of Hello.
After saving my work in VS code I attempted to view my code on GitHub but it was not showing. So now I went back to the GitHub application and saw a publish button. I now know that in order to get my code onto GitHub from a local copy it needs to be published. :).
Short blog today… Checkout the video below by Big Nerd Ranch. I also started using pluralsight.com. So far I really like that as well. More updates to follow on that at a later time.

Up and Running with Python:
To engage with the community more, I have signed up for Reddit and Stack Overflow. It will be interesting to see how I use them. I am still listening to Talk Python to Me and Microsoft Dev Show podcasts. I have found these podcasts very good and current topic as well as things to explore. It also helps with understanding the Lingo that is used with in the programming community.
Hi All. PhelpsINCDotNet Here.
I found that course very benifical. Now it is onto Up and Running with Python where I needed to download Python 2.7 and Visual Studio code. Now that I have those things in place I can continue to learn more about Python. I throughly the first course and creating something and watching it go. I will post updates on my progress here. The traditional school course will focous on C++.
Some podcasts that I am starting to listen to are Talk Python to Me, MS Dev Show, The Food Fight Show, and Arresested DevOps. The podcasts are helping to expose me to DevOps and automation. I am still not too sure of what Chef and Puppet do but will be researching them as well.
My next side project will be to build a chat or email bot of some kind. Well that is all for now. Remember It is always good somtimes.
